Following the leading the Spirit, Dennis Cook
and his wife, Jo, along with their three children (Jason,
Aaron and Sarah), moved from Sutherlin, Oregon to start a church
in Howell, Michigan. Equipped with faith, love, hope and the promise
of the scripture, "a great and effectual door is open unto me," the
work commenced. Home Bible studies were the method chosen for
sharing the Word of God in their new community. The first church
service was held in the Cook's living room, with eleven people
present. Crossroads was born. Crossroads became the place
where neighbors and friends would meet Jesus at the foot of the
cross and choose the road journeying toward their eternal
destination. At the Crossroads, many have discovered new life,
healing, and transformation by the Spirit of God. Through prayer,
tenacity, diligence and unity, the church grew.
Moving from the Cardinal Court home to Southeast
Elementary School ... then Highlander Way Middle School ... to the
present day miracle of thirteen scenic acres of property with a
beautiful building in which to serve the community and worship. To
God be the glory! Pastor Dennis Cook worked a full time job
at the Ann Arbor Post Office while ministering full time to the
Crossroads congregation. The word of God was confirmed with the
power and demonstration of the Holy Ghost. The years passed quickly
with many trials and triumphs, heartaches and joys with Pastor Cook
serving the community for seventeen years. Thanks to God's grace,
the ministry of our founding Bishop, and the faithful members,
Crossroads has become a vital part of Livingston County.
Now retired, Bishop Cook and his family remain at
Crossroads as support staff for the new leadership, Pastor Sherman
Williams, his wife, Rachel, and family. Together, they look forward
to dynamic growth and effectiveness, anticipating the future with
faith as they continue to share the Gospel message with Livingston
County!
